Oh, now I get it – the City Council members needed the raises so they could pay the increased water fees.


Because the city is raising my rates to fund the charity program Help 2 Others, I want it to send me a tax document for my share of the donation. It is my money. Maybe I do not want to give it to that charity.


I wonder if President Obama will ever say the words “Islamic” and “terrorists” together.


Why does it not surprise me that some conservatives want to round up Muslim-Americans like we did with Japanese-Americans during World War II? I’d rather be free and at risk of terror than trample the Constitution and have Big Brother watching.


How about we cut all foreign aid to Islamic countries, and let them hate us for free?


About the 53 percent of the American public that wants to send ground troops to the Middle East to fight ISIS: I suggest that they and their relatives meet at the local military recruiting office. If they do not wish to fight themselves, they should keep quiet.


Even if you don’t like guns and don’t want to carry one, you should not frequent establishments that display no-gun signs. If something happens, you’ll be glad one of the legal gun owners has one.


The NRA gets the blame for crimes none of its members commits.


All I know is, our Founding Fathers would be appalled at what this nation has become.


I would certainly endorse a law that mandates Republican congressional leaders give proof that they have an IQ at least equal to their age.


Our politicians don’t enact any helpful changes. I’ve got a simple idea: Stop closing our banks, mail service and libraries on every little silly holiday. It makes no sense and hurts our economy.


Why wasn’t there prominent notice in The Eagle about the Our Lady of Guadalupe Festival parade route Sunday afternoon that blocked 2 miles of Broadway next to the city’s largest round-the-clock business during shift change? Sponsors should make sure that Via Christi St Francis employees know about this in advance.


Metal detectors at Intrust Bank Arena may keep people safe inside, but they disarm people for the dangerous walk through downtown to and from the arena.
