Thank God I live in a state that recognizes my right to defend myself against terrorist murderers as well as common thieves and robbers.


A troubling reality with carrying a concealed weapon is that as soon as you bring it out and start shooting – you become the next target. And how can you know for sure whom to shoot when other “good guys” bring out their guns?


I’m so glad terrorism has been contained. Now if I could only get rid of this terrible fear of global warming.


Of course global warming is more important than protection from radical Muslims. The latter may and do kill a tiny percentage of the population, but the former will eventually make human life on Earth impossible to sustain.


The way things are going in this country we will have to fly the American flag at half-staff all the time.


Rep. Mike Pompeo’s position on the Export-Import Bank was a slap in the face for Wichita jobs. Who does he think voted him in anyway?


The ideas expressed in Robert Gates’ commentary in the Sunday edition apply to all levels of government (“The kind of president our country needs,” Dec. 6 Opinion). Gov. Brownback, are you listening?


Crude oil drops to its lowest price in seven years, and the price at the pump in Wichita skyrockets 18 cents per gallon. Can you say “monopoly”?


Will we see the day when our high school students will interview teachers before they are hired?


I’m glad to see that 13 Kansas legislators had the taxpayers pay for their attendance at an American Legislative Exchange Council conference. Maybe they learned what went wrong with all that ALEC guidance they got in prior years.


Thanks to the adults on the County Commission for making a commonsense decision on the new tag office in the vacated Dillons at Douglas and Meridian. Now if we could get some adults on the City Council and stop the stupid waste of money of putting bicycles all over the payment.


Thanks to the Intrust Bank Arena security force for keeping us safe at the Garth Brooks concert Thursday night.


Why is it that the city charges $5 to park for the Thunder games but $20 for a Garth Brooks concert?
