Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, complained that President Obama wants parts of a climate change deal being negotiated in Paris to be legally binding, while the administration’s nuclear deal with Iran was nonbinding and unsigned. “In an attempt to secure his legacy, the president is pursuing a radical climate change deal, while ignoring his foremost duty to protect Americans from the real threat facing our nation and the world: dangerous Islamic extremists whose goal is to destroy America and our allies,” Pompeo said in a statement. Pompeo also said that members of Congress “must also do all in our power to fight against the president’s damaging climate change agenda, and pursue policies that support American energy, create new jobs and power our economy.” – Phillip Brownlee
