Does anyone really think that Mother Nature will pay any attention to the blathering of those attending the Paris conference?

I would have received much better grades in history in school had I only known that all the wars were caused by climate change.

The Eagle editorial on the increase in sexually transmitted diseases really missed the mark (Dec. 2 Opinion). You should know that the increase is caused by global warming. It’s simply too hot to keep your clothes on and it’s all big oil’s fault.

I remember building contractors cheering on Sept. 11 because they knew somebody was going to be getting a heck of a contract.

Legislators get an 8.5 percent per diem increase, more county employees will get car allowances, and our City Council votes itself a pay raise – at the same time the cost-of-living increase for Social Security in 2016 is zero. I hope my property taxes don’t go up for next year.

County commissioners are out of touch. Adding car allowances for the four officials sounds like a backdoor raise. If they have an occasion to use their personal vehicle for county business, what is wrong with asking them to submit an itemized expense report?

Wichita, of all cities, should be willing to welcome Syrian immigrants. Much of Wichita was built on the backs of Syrians like the Bayouths, Ablahs, Cohlmias, Stevenses and others. We are all blessed because of their influence.

Our compassion for refugees should not overshadow the need for security of our families and loved ones.

Talk about a shot of adrenaline to the Kansas economy. Thanks to the oil and gas industry, Kansas soon will be the most desirable place to live for the 50 million people suffering from back pain. They will love our vibrating beds.

Only in Wichita would they build an arena with inadequate parking and then charge $10, $20 and $30 to park. Event tickets are pricey enough that they should include parking. Bring back the Coliseum.

I heard the governor denied a football program proposal for Wichita State. He doesn’t think it’s fair for WSU to have a football team if KU can’t.

These days the only thing less common than bicycle riders in those new lanes in downtown Wichita are WSU fans demanding that the Jayhawks play the Shockers.
