The Republican Party is moving to a very dark place. Create IDs for Islamic citizens; close mosques; keep dispossessed and desperate refugees out of our country; invent stories about Muslims celebrating in New Jersey after Sept. 11. The paranoia is sad indeed.

Do you think the Republicans vetted their candidates for the highest office in the land as well as all refugees are vetted, regardless of their place of origin? Doesn’t seem to be the case, does it?

Jesus was a refugee and he was not Christian.

In 1980 Ronald Reagan asked the American people if they were better off than they were four years ago. Perhaps today we should be asking if we feel safer than we did seven years ago.

After seeing Charles Koch interviewed on several channels, all I can say is: Charles Koch for president. He understands that people are much better at running their own lives than government is at doing it for them.

For nine years Volkswagen cheated the international car market and its own customers using malicious software. This is convincing evidence that our voting machines must be investigated before the next election. Obviously, from now on an independent paper trail audit is a must. Our government is at stake.

I think the voting age should be left where it is, but the requirements should change. Only those who own property and/or are earning a (non-welfare) paycheck and paying taxes should be allowed to vote. Things would change in a hurry.

The Eagle editorial board blasted Kansas House Speaker Ray Merrick’s removal of three representatives from a committee for supporting Medicaid expansion. Conversely, the board blasted U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp for his removal from committees for not toeing the party line.

Kansas received an F in a rating of the states for transparency and accountability because they don’t give grades lower than an F. A legislature that hides laws until just before the vote and a governor who conducts business via personal e-mails are building an impenetrable wall between them and us.

A lot of people reach late midlife and feel bad that they wasted it. Unwilling to admit it, though, they turn around and try to force people to live the same kind of life.

There is a famine of good men in our world today, men who respect women. Be that man who goes against the grain. Man up, boys.

The movie “Spotlight” should be viewed by all families who love their children. If you are involved in organized religion, please let the light of this movie shine upon you and yours. It takes a dark village to abuse a child.
