Opinion Line (Dec. 18)
To every person in the city of Wichita: Merry Christmas. Happy New Year. Please stop protesting until Jan. 2. I just want to enjoy the holidays without people arguing. Go back to it Jan. 2. Thanks.
The dreary weather with no sunshine makes Christmas lights and decorations all the more beautiful. I appreciate the effort.
Do you want to know what real torture is? It’s watching the coward Dick Cheney on cable news night after night claiming that what he, President Bush and the CIA did wasn’t torture.
Torture is listening to our president try to make sense, and realizing he spends more time watching ESPN than you do.
One reader asked: If “torture worked so well, why have we lost Iraq and Afghanistan?” Both have been lost during Obama’s term. It could be because he stopped the torture. We should go back to the program and increase it.
Whom should I believe on torture? War hero John McCain, who was actually subjected to torture himself? Or the draft-dodging chicken hawk Dick Cheney? I wonder who has more credibility?

We need another Republican president. Let’s elect Jeb Bush so we can start another war and keep the industrial war machine going. He can attack Russia and China, because they have weapons of mass destruction. That will make John McCain and Dick Cheney happy.
Bush or Clinton – just push the recycle button.
Communist China just passed the U.S. to become the largest economy in the world. In a strange twist, China employs more capitalism while we practice more socialism. And, yes, stringent pollution control can coexist with capitalism.
Gov. Sam Brownback says he thinks the influence that Wichita-based Koch Industries wields at the Statehouse has been exaggerated This from someone who didn’t know what was going on in Kansas until after the election.
If ignorance is truly bliss, then our governor and his financial staff must be the happiest people on the planet. Or they have been out in the sunshine too long.
Why did state employees recently receive a $250 bonus? No government employee should ever receive a bonus above and beyond the regular paycheck.
