Maybe if the Democratic presidential candidates were told that ISIS members were Republicans, they would actually come up with a plan to attack them.

By their rejection of refugees from Syria and their refusal to accept accountability and transfer of prisoners from Guantanamo Bay, America and Kansans have shown themselves to be both heartless and cowardly.

Gov. Sam Brownback has a right to be concerned about the potential relocation of Syrians to Kansas. Look what happened to the American Indians when they allowed refugees without proper vetting.

I thank my governor for his efforts to move welfare recipients from welfare to being productive citizens.

Would you be willing to gamble your child’s life on the belief that all of the refugees have been thoroughly vetted and will not be terrorists?

I pray we don’t elect another Democrat as president. If we do, they will invite every terrorist to come to America and give them free health care, free education and free food stamps until they strap a suicide vest on them and blow up as many Americans as they can.

Barack Obama, Eric Holder and Al Sharpton are seeing their dream come true – racial unrest and protest across the entire United States.

I suspect Donald Trump and Ben Carson are secretly best friends and world-class pranksters who got together and decided to bookend the Republican presidential field, then squeeze them until their heads explode.

Did you know that County Commissioner Karl Peterjohn has the same first name as Karl Marx? And both of them espouse a manifesto calling for the state to wither and die. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

A lot of times, things are politically incorrect because they’re stupid.

City officials are allowing QuikTrip to build a store on part of the golf course at Harry and Oliver? What are they thinking? We need as much urban green space as we can get, and a park much more than a QuikTrip at that location (or a golf course).

Little children continue to die at the hands of parents or a mother’s “boyfriend.” This is happening over and over in our community. Where is the outrage? Why have we become so callous and hard that we turn a deaf ear to these atrocities?

The next time you want to complain about something, read the story of Julie Dombo from Thursday’s Eagle. Her will to live, survive and cope is amazing, and a sign of the strength of the human spirit. Appreciate every day and be thankful for what you have.

I went to Cheney for a high school football game. I ate chicken fried steak in a Chinese restaurant prepared by a Hispanic chef. I love this country.
