Opinion Line Extra (Nov. 18)
One lie from a presidential candidate is enough for me to choose another candidate.
Any candidate can easily become the darling of Republican voters simply by playing to their ignorance in three areas: Government can do no good, anyone different from you is a bad person, and the poor choose to be poor so they are undeserving.
Bernie Sanders says the biggest threat facing America is climate change. It’s hot in the summer, then it gets cooler in the fall, and then it gets colder in the winter, and then it changes to warmer in the spring. Sometimes it rains or snows. It appears we are doomed.
Why is it so hard for Obama to defeat ISIS or even take them seriously, even when Paris burns?
If President Obama does not resign, then he should be impeached.
Our politicians literally let illegal immigration get out of hand, and now when someone wishes to try to remedy it, they say we can’t – it would clog up the courts. They should be placed on trial for treason. We have been invaded, without a shot fired.
“Trickle down” is code for greed. Same is true for the word “privatize.” Don’t fall for their ideologically flawed economic theories.
If the NRA really believed the stuff it spouts, shouldn’t it be helping the Missouri students by providing them with weapons?
Some students on university campuses are tender little flowers demanding a “a safe space” for them to blossom. I am afraid in later life they will be assaulted by their boss who has the audacity to say, “Get to work.”
Black students need to understand that the “microaggression” they feel may be white students avoiding them because no matter what they do or say, it could be twisted into something racist. The white students stop conversations or move away to avoid drama. Lighten up and maybe things will get better.
Who’d have thought? Jayhawk racism protesters copied hated Mizzou’s successful actions down to and including the hunger strike. Is there no creativity in Lawrence? I guess the University of Missouri isn’t so bad after all.
If you give a child everything he demands and never tell him “no,” you end up with a spoiled brat or a sociopath. When you do the same to a governor, you end up with a micromanaging demigod. That’s why we need two parties. Competition really is good.
House Speaker Ray Merrick says Medicaid expansion “has busted budget after budget in states that have expanded it.” Our governor refuses expansion of health coverage for Kansans, and still our budget is busted. I’m sure Merrick will explain that one.
