It always amazes me that terrorists strike innocents with the intent of creating fear. While that is short-lived, it has the stronger impact of unifying people who historically disagree. Resolve replaces acrimony.

ISIS attacked Paris on the very day President Obama said ISIS was “contained” in Syria and Iraq. We’ve never had a president who looked smaller on the world stage than this man.

We pray for Paris but suspend a high school football coach for praying.

If the state legislators’ 8.5 percent per diem increase is based on the federal legislators’ increase, why is it fair that the increase in Social Security is flat again this year and based on the so-called cost of living?

I worked as a teacher for more than 40 years. During 15 years of retirement, the dollar amount of my KPERS check has not changed while the purchasing power has greatly diminished. Where is my 8.5 percent raise? Oh, I forgot – the legislators make the rules.

Incompetence pays. The Legislature gets a pay raise.

The only way to stop Charles Koch from running our County Commission is to vote Karl Peterjohn out in the next election and Richard Ranzau and Jim Howell two years later – that is, if we can keep the machines from being compromised.

I was so disappointed to turn on “Sesame Street” on Channel 8 and hear Bert and Ernie promoting socialism. Oh, wait – maybe that was a County Commission meeting with Dave Unruh and Tim Norton.

What a strange world we live in where those who follow the law are ridiculed (like Ranzau) and those who don’t are seen as victims.

Having students run colleges and have every demand catered to is like having inmates run the asylum. College administrators who cave to every demand from the latest unhappy group should be replaced.

Many of the protesting college students want free tuition, etc. I guess we seniors may as well join the stupidity. Why don’t we demand free utilities? How about free groceries? Who do those morons think is going to pay their tuition and student loans?

In view of the infantile behavior of the students at Missouri and Yale, perhaps the voting age should be changed to 25.
