Though he considers himself “a social liberal,” David Koch says his primary concern when supporting candidates is economics. “What I want these candidates to do is to support a balanced budget,” Koch, executive vice president of Wichita’s Koch Industries, told ABC News’ Barbara Walters during her special, “The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014.” Koch also said: “I’m very worried that if the budget is not balanced that inflation could occur and the economy of our country could suffer terribly.” What about the conservative candidates he backs who disagree with him on abortion rights and same-sex marriage? “Well, that’s their problem,” he said. – Phillip Brownlee
