If you listen to the GOP presidential debates and you then experience a feeling of euphoria that lasts longer than four hours, see your psychiatrist immediately.
Two-thirds of eligible voters don’t vote because they think it won’t make a difference. I have to agree when you have a president with a pen and a phone who signs executive orders going against what two-thirds want and a Congress with no spine to stop him.
President Obama and Washington are just now understanding that No Child Left Behind over-testing did not help? Do you know how many good teachers left the profession because of testing?
A 9-year-old girl was beheaded in Afghanistan. In the United States, Yale students are protesting over a Halloween costume memo. Does that add any perspective, children?
I am going to go on a hunger strike to force Obama to resign.
I loved all the comments in Thursday’s Eagle supporting racism at the University of Missouri. It seems like you deserve to be harassed if you are black or another minority.
Racism is a myth perpetrated by liberals. The myth feeds their coffers.
Bigotry and hatred are spoken of as if they are both automatically all bad. Not so. Many things need to be discriminated against, and many things are worthy of hatred. To claim otherwise is insane.
The members of the Wichita Park Board have shown themselves to be gutless cowards. No veteran ever fought under the Kansas flag.
What a great story about an inspirational woman who just happens to come from Kansas (Nov. 11 Eagle). Nancy Kassebaum Baker listened to conservative and liberal ideas, then helped come to consensus for the good of the people. If only she would run for president, we might accomplish much.
Remember when Sam Brownback went on about how there was no money in the state’s bank accounts when he took over? He’s sure kept his promise of outdoing his predecessor – by depleting all state accounts.
Where is the outrage over the ejection of the legislators from a committee who dared to express a differing opinion? Are we now in a dictatorship that does not allow people to express their opinions if they differ from these right-wing extremists? This action is outrageous.
Now, there’s a surprise: Kansas lawmakers get an 8.5 percent raise in their per diem allowance. Of course it’s “automatic” (no floor vote required), based on what federal workers get while they travel. And isn’t it an even bigger surprise that it’s typically nontaxable?
When Brownback eliminated the Kansas Arts Commission, he said the private sector would step up and fund the arts as part of his trickle-down theory. That has yet to happen and the arts are struggling even more today.
Step up. If an elderly neighbor needs a ride to the doctor, provide it. If you know a child needs a coat, give them one. Stop sitting back waiting for someone else or the government to do it.
