Opinion Line (Dec. 13)

It is said we are leaders of the free world. You kidding me? What is free about your and my world?

Really? Criticism of President Obama for allowing release of the report on torture, but no criticism for the administration that sanctioned the atrocities? Unbelievable.

I cannot believe all the comments against releasing the CIA torture report. You would think all citizens would welcome the opportunity to see what our government has done in the name of freedom.

I don’t get the controversy over enhanced interrogation techniques. This is not an athletic contest. There is no trophy for second place. If we had gotten second place in World War II, everyone would be speaking German.

I’m pretty OK with everything the CIA did to the al-Qaida detainees. At least it didn’t brutally cut their heads off and then post home movies on YouTube about it.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s idea of interrogation is to take the terrorists to IHOP and visit with them over coffee and pancakes. The blueberry pancakes are especially truth rendering.

Speaking of torture, my fantasy football league has been brutal on me this year.

Kathleen Sebelius suggested that Obamacare needs a name change. May I suggest the name be officially changed to “Ofraudacare”?

Casinos, as part of the entertainment industry, do not create any jobs whatsoever. They only steal jobs from other businesses. The best one can hope for is the jobs are stolen from another community or state, rather than from the local businesses.

I am baffled by the parking complaints at Intrust Bank Arena. We went to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert and parked in a well-lit lot two blocks away. Afterward, there were no traffic problems. And our seats were roomy and comfortable.

The Eagle’s report on the arena’s fifth anniversary made the case how taxpayers were misled by local government. They said, “Tax yourselves for a new arena and the big-name acts would come,” which was largely false.

What good is it for retail cashiers to ask if you found everything if they do nothing but say “Oh” when you tell them what you did not find?

Just because a person coughs, sneezes or sniffs does not mean he is sick. I get tired of dirty looks. It could be allergies, dry throat or even Tourette’s syndrome.

I know there is a “do not call” list. There needs to be a “do not leave another phone book at my door” list.

The WSU students camping out for the game should not copy Duke and call it Marshallville. They should call it Playangryland.
