Opinion Line Extra (Nov. 11)

Why should Ben Carson be held to any higher standard than President Obama when it comes to being untruthful?

Ben Carson lies about his past, and he blames the media for exposing the lies. Sounds like a typical Republican to me.

One gets the sense that a man who’d go after his own mother with a hammer wouldn’t take much B.S. from Vladimir Putin.

Donald Trump, narcissist. Ben Carson, lunatic. Ted Cruz, not born in the United States. It just gets worse. Hillary Clinton looks better and better.

If Joseph built the Pyramids for grain storage, as Ben Carson believes, then it would be Vulcan logic to assume he and Donald Trump, the two Republican front-runners, are from Mars.

I don’t know how to take Donald Trump’s tax plan. The poor already pay no taxes and actually make money from people who do pay taxes.

How sad that a recent Hispanic video shows young children cursing out Donald Trump. The creators of this video and the parents of these children have done their culture and their cause a terrible disservice.

The picture in Tuesday’s paper of Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu says a lot. Netanyahu is looking at Obama and smiling, while it appears Obama is totally disinterested. We don’t really have a “leader” now. How sad. You shouldn’t treat allies this way.

After seeing all the illegal activity and attempted murder for hire from the Illinois officer, why haven’t we heard a thing from all the people who support the police in all situations – the ones who don’t think we should question or scrutinize any of their actions?

The police unions that blindly support officers regardless of their activity remind me of the Catholic Church blindly supporting pedophile priests.

What are administrators supposed to do if a student won’t obey the teacher or the principal? If you don’t want your kid to be treated like a criminal, they shouldn’t act like one. I say expel the student and rehire the security officer in South Carolina. One student shouldn’t be allowed to disrupt the entire class.

If our nation’s police officers want to shed their outlaw reputation, a good start would be to obey simple traffic laws. No more endangering the citizenry with unwarranted speeding, erratic maneuvers or traffic infractions of any kind. If urgency is justified, their lights should be flashing.

A letter promoted the “carbon fee and dividend” program. The plan is to levy a fee on energy companies and redistribute it to households as a dividend. Only Democrats believe energy companies won’t immediately raise their prices to offset the new fee.

After basking in the warm glow of the Royals’ World Series championship, I realize that it was indeed my lucky socks – not the other guy’s shirt, or shoes or whatever – that sealed the victory.
