Opinion Line Extra (Nov. 9)

Why don’t the presidential candidates speak about the problems facing people today, such as the need for full-time jobs (of any type) that pay a living wage, and how they would increase the number of manufacturing jobs?

When it comes to people seeking political office, I like “gotcha questions.” I believe that these questions are necessary to bring out the real intent of people who might someday hold office.

The Republican presidential candidates were the big winners in the last debate, and the panel members were the big losers. The panel looked ignorant, ill-prepared, small-minded and condescending. The candidates prepared for questions of substance but instead were asked about demeaning drivel.

Republican presidential candidates like Bush, Rubio, Carson and Cruz can be counted on to do as they are told if elected. Charles Koch dislikes Donald Trump because he cannot be influenced with money and puts the country first.

Those Bush brothers have plenty of money, but when it comes to smarts they’re below the poverty line. Right-wing U.S. Supreme Court justices shoved George W. down our throats. But if Jeb makes it to the White House, voters will have themselves to blame.

On a clear day, many Democrats can’t see the blindfolds they are wearing.

With all the money that wealthy Kansans are saving by not paying corporate or personal income tax, you’d think they’d give more to local nonprofits. They’re not, which confirms their greed.

I see that, according to Opinion Line, Brownback’s tax cuts for business owners have created three new jobs. Not bad considering about 330,000 pay no taxes.

Notice how Democrats use language. If you object to rearranging the WSU chapel, you’re not an objector. You’re a hater or phobic. Normal people need to combat this nonsense and start the conversation by saying the rearrangers are Christophobes.

I’ve driven the Market underpass under Kellogg since it was built. All three lanes are usually full of cars during rush hour, and I don’t recall ever seeing a bicyclist there. Yet the phantom bicyclists now have a free lane, and the cars are reduced to two. Brilliant.

A shortcut to heaven: During every TV commercial break, press “mute” and pray. If you are sincere, the chariot will “swing low” for you when your time comes. (If not, think of all the trash you missed out on.)

Parents are failing their children. Just read or watch the news. Spare the rod, spoil the child. God said it. Otherwise, let them behave as fools.

Are we still complaining about the carts in the parking lots? It looks like some of us need to take lessons in good citizenship. The rest could help by taking one of our carts into the store and putting it away for us.
