Opinion Line (Dec. 7)

Condoleezza Rice for president.

No, Condoleezza Rice – the biggest threat to U.S. security is the hatred of the U.S. spawned by the two unnecessary wars that you encouraged and supported during your disastrous tenure in the George W. Bush administration.

Where do I get my Webb-Warren 2016 bumper sticker?

Wow. It’s open season on black men.

What does it take to hold a police officer responsible? We see a man get choked to death on camera, with an illegal chokehold. All because they thought he might have sold a cigarette. If you can’t get an indictment for this, then black lives don’t matter.

It is as simple as this: When a police officer tells you to do something, do it immediately and as soon as you can. It doesn’t matter if it’s fair or not in your eyes. You’ll have a chance to present your side later.

With all the hate and distrust toward law enforcement exhibited by those living in urban areas, I think police departments nationwide should simply stop policing those areas and let the inhabitants do it themselves.

Here’s something new we may all want to try – take responsibility for your actions.

It is a shame that you cannot own your property or house in Kansas. If you think you do, don’t pay your property tax and see who owns it. The freedom of speech is about the only freedom we have left, and that is in question.

Well, Kansas voters, you should be proud of yourselves. Your state just sued the feds over immigration policy to break families apart. I guess we are all about family values as long as they speak English. Keep up the good work.

I agree with state Rep. Steve Brunk that any agency not providing a value-added service should be shut down. Start with the Legislature, which provides zero value-added service.

The president of the Pachyderm Club should be congratulated for describing forgivable loans and industrial revenue bonds as bribes. These business charity programs must come to an end. Apparently the politicians weren’t listening when voters defeated a proposed sales tax increase to fund such corporate handouts.

Mayor Carl Brewer says the state is doing the exact same thing the City Council is doing in creating jobs. Why is there duplication? Surely we don’t need two government bodies creating jobs.

Seriously, the city of Wichita has a “forestry department”? Again, we have no revenue issues. We have spending issues.

Remember what happened at Pearl Harbor. Many lives were lost. I was just 10. When we went to school we always sang, “Remember Pearl Harbor as we did the Alamo.” Tell your children about those who died helping the nation be free.

I think the human animal would be a better animal if he had a little bit of dog in him.
