Opinion Line Extra (Dec. 8)
The city has been raising the water rates every year since 1997. Where has the money gone for the upgrades that were to be done every year?
I want a business like the water department where I can ask customers to pay more if they don’t use enough of my product or too much of my product. I want them to pay for my future needs to service them.
To cover our state’s budget shortfall, businessmen proposed that charities prove their worth before receiving tax-exempt status and that college tuition be raised $1,000 per student. How about just taxing 191,000 for-profit businesses that, instead of creating new jobs, use their tax windfall for personal gain and pleasure?
I was hassled by the police when I was a teenager and I’m white. My teenage sons were hassled by police and they’re white. So there are your equal rights. Get over it.
Anybody who attempts to rough up a police officer is facing the possibility of paying the ultimate price.
The New York City case is upsetting, whether a person is black or white. It’s not a race issue. We should all be up in arms about how this man was treated and murdered, and then the cop was not indicted. Even the coroner said it was a homicide.
With the excess oil on the market and falling prices, we should get oil suppliers to commit to using the Keystone pipeline before building it.
Democrats will never vote for the Keystone pipeline. The oil is carried on trains. Warren Buffet own the trains. He is also their rich billionaire donor. Shame on Democrats for not passing it and giving Americans high-paying jobs.
Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer was a principal figure in getting Obamacare passed. He now says that Democrats made a mistake focusing then on passing health care reform and not the economy. Say what? It sounded like he was reading an old tea party speech.
It has been reported that President Obama is concerned about his legacy. The new Congress should allocate funds for a large bronze statue to be erected on the Washington Mall. The pigeons need a new place to roost.
What am I missing here? Is there something magical in marriage vows that triggers reproduction?
The Super Car Guys advertise that “buying a car doesn’t have to suck.” What does suck is having to navigate North Rock in front of their dealership while a transport unloads in the middle (left turn) lane on Black Friday.
I’ve always admired Condoleezza Rice and marvel at what she’s accomplished (Dec. 5 Eagle). Couldn’t The Eagle have taken a more flattering picture of this wonderful person and role model?
