All four living U.S. presidents are now members of the Eisenhower Memorial’s Advisory Committee. President Bill Clinton this week joined former Presidents George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter in the campaign to build a memorial for President Dwight D. Eisenhower in Washington, D.C. Former Kansas Sen. Bob Dole is the campaign finance chairman, and Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., chairs the Eisenhower Memorial Commission. Clinton’s first connection with Ike occurred when Eisenhower intervened to help integrate Little Rock Central High School, near where Clinton grew up in Arkansas. “I learned a lot from the example he set during that time and took that with me into my own presidency,” Clinton said. – Phillip Brownlee
