Opinion Line (Nov. 3)
The tin man got a heart, the lion courage, the scarecrow a brain, and the Royals won the World Series.
I am first and foremost a football gal, finding baseball a bit dry. This World Series has me questioning my definition of “dry” and made me see what I’ve been missing. Mea culpa to baseball fans, and congratulations to those World Series-winning boys of summer, the Kansas City Royals.
Kudos to the Royals on their accomplishments, but until Central and South America, Japan and others are added to the mix, shouldn’t it be called the North American Series?
When I saw Bill Maher at a Mets game, all I could think was if God is a baseball fan there is no way the Mets are going to win.
Why do pro baseball managers and teams not shake hands – especially after championship games like the World Series? Pro football teams do it after every game. It strikes me as a lack of sportsmanship.
I will be glad when football as well as baseball are over so we can get back to important stuff like KU basketball and electing Hillary Clinton.
President Obama is sending U.S. special operations forces into Syria as advisers. Are those like the advisers that President Kennedy sent into Vietnam?
If we were to believe the statement of “no boots on the ground,” does that now mean that our troops will be wearing bedroom slippers?
I see all of our Kansas representatives in the U.S. House paid homage and bowed down to King Paul Ryan as leader.
With all the things the Republicans are caving in on for the Democrats, you might as well call them the right wing of the Democratic Party.
If you can’t support a city bus system, you’ll kill the lifeline of the poor. It’s not like cars are getting any cheaper.
Another full-page fawning article about the Kochs. Enough already.
Those awful old Kochs have given money to WSU again.
It’s wonderful that the bikers collect toys for children. However, I think there should be at least a couple of crosstown streets open at all times. Traffic was really jammed up Sunday. It took me an extra hour to get to my 96-year-old mother’s house to help her.
Thank goodness I overbuy candy for Halloween, because I had 85 kids instead of the usual 40. What was amazing was how polite all the kids were. It was a very pleasurable 2 1/2 hours.
