Another former president joins Ike memorial effort

Jimmy Carter is the latest former president to become a member of the Eisenhower Memorial’s Advisory Committee, joining former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. The advisory committee also includes six former U.S. secretaries of state and several former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and chiefs of the military services. Former Kansas Sen. Bob Dole is the campaign finance chairman. Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., who chairs the Eisenhower Memorial Commission, said: “I am honored that three presidents, and so many other distinguished Americans, have joined us in this effort, and I hope others will do the same so that we may begin construction while Ike’s troops are still alive and can honor their esteemed leader.” – Phillip Brownlee
