Opinion Line (Oct. 30)

The Republican Congress just signed off on a two-year budget deal giving Obama everything he wanted, so what difference does it make who the next president is? Both parties seem determined to take the country to social and economic ruin.

Watching the latest Republican debate was very disheartening. Can there actually be a human being left on the planet who believes that cutting taxes will stimulate the economy? Really? It was voodoo then and it’s voodoo now.

The “biggest controversy” of the debate, per the front-page article, was Bush versus Rubio? No way. It was media bias.

If the Republicans can’t deal with the questions, then the networks should pull their plug and broadcast only the Democratic debates.

I noticed that the Republicans never finish their statements. They say they will cut taxes and reduce spending, but don’t add the part about cutting taxes only for the rich or reducing spending on the elderly, poor and disabled and but not corporate welfare or subsidies. Why is that?

I’m busy, but would somebody please get all of Wichita’s auto sales spokespeople together to make a Republican debate parody?

Why are there so many “now hiring” signs along our streets and so many folks drawing welfare?

I applaud the police officer who used necessary force on the noncompliant student in South Carolina. The student and only the student bears responsibility for what happened. Stupid kids need to understand there are consequences for their actions.

To my brother and sister law enforcement officers: It seems there’s a tidal wave of anti-cop sentiment fomented by the Obama administration and a willing liberal media. I think it’s time to stand down and let the sheep take care of themselves for a while.

Vegans are smiling over the new anti-meat studies being spewed by the World Health Organization. Vegans may think they live longer, but actually it is because their lives are so miserable without meat it just seems they are never going to die.

The WHO’s declaration that processed meats are carcinogenic means nothing. Chocolate was bad. Now it’s good. Eggs were bad; now good. Butter was bad, then good, and now is bad again. Coffee? Back and forth enough to make you dizzy. Eat what you like. You’ve got to die of something.

A Kansas Halloween: First stop is the home of Kris Kobach, who wants to see an ID or else no candy. Second stop is the home of Richard Ranzau, who wants proof of the parents’ citizenship. Then Sam Brownback cancels Halloween, viewing it as training the masses to seek handouts. Boo.
