Republicans don’t want leaders to work with Obama

Though 57 percent of Americans want GOP lawmakers to work with President Obama to get things done, “there is a clear majority of Republicans who have absolutely no interest in seeing their leaders cut deals – large or small – with the president,” wrote Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post. Sixty-six percent of Republicans said they would prefer their party leaders “stand up” to Obama “even if less gets done in Washington,” according to a Pew Research Center poll that was conducted before Obama announced his executive action on immigration. However, 52 percent of Democrats said that Obama should work with Republicans “even if it disappoints some Democratic supporters.” – Phillip Brownlee
