Though 57 percent of Americans want GOP lawmakers to work with President Obama to get things done, “there is a clear majority of Republicans who have absolutely no interest in seeing their leaders cut deals – large or small – with the president,” wrote Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post. Sixty-six percent of Republicans said they would prefer their party leaders “stand up” to Obama “even if less gets done in Washington,” according to a Pew Research Center poll that was conducted before Obama announced his executive action on immigration.
