Opinion Line Extra (Nov. 28)

When it comes to abortion, right-to-life advocates certainly have no problem defining a human being. However, when they argue that allowing gay marriage between humans means that there will soon be marriage between humans and animals, I begin to wonder if they really do know the definition of a human being.


So Kansas House Speaker Ray Merrick doesn’t think public employees produce anything? I wish he could have been with me on one of the many nights I drove a snowplow all night long with very little sleep in freezing temperatures so people could get to work the next morning.


To find money for roads and schools: Legalize hemp for commercial, agricultural and medical uses, and legalize pot for medical use followed by recreational use, so we can collect tourism dollars and open support businesses. It’s just good business to do it.


Utopia is the selling point for the scam being perpetrated by socialist Democrats. Government control of us is their real objective. Democrats promise us utopia, if only we surrender enough liberty and property.


When Mitt Romney ran for president, all we heard from Democrats was that he is Mormon. Their Harry Reid, Senate majority leader, is also Mormon. We never hear a word about that.


The approval of the Keystone pipeline may be a moot point, as the cost to mine, transport and refine per barrel is greater than the current cost of crude per barrel.


The majority of these so-called political think tanks don’t have anything to do with thinking. They are there to ensure the rest of the world shares the group’s own self-serving prejudiced opinions.


State Department computers were hacked, and yet we are supposed to believe the claim by Obama and the Democrats that their Obamacare computers are secure? Really?


I keep hearing you Republicans say you want to repeal Obamacare. The interesting thing is I have never heard what you would do to provide health care for millions of people who do not have it. You wanted control. Now you have it. Now go to work.


The whole idea of having to buy flood or earthquake insurance is ridiculous. It should be covered under a normal homeowner’s policy without an increase in premium. Insurance – what a racket.


This sentiment printed in a recent Opinion Line was such a glittering jewel of sophomoric reasoning on several levels all at once that it bears reprinting: “To be a Republican is to care more about falling profits than oceans rising.”


There can are be only two reasons the GOP refuses to acknowledge marijuana and climate change: They have been wrong all along, and they cannot accept it and move on.
