Opinion Line Extra (Nov. 27)
Government employees also produce laws and levy taxes. They are called state legislators and include Ray Merrick. Think we can include that in state employees’ production?
Seven of the country’s 30 largest American companies paid more in executive pay than federal taxes last year. It’s all a cost of business, yet all you hear are that taxes are to high. Hogwash. We pay these compensation packages and then have to bear their burden of not paying their fair share of “actual tax.”
I believe I have come up with the perfect slogan for the next Republican presidential candidate – “Hope and Change.”
The Republicans are shocked – shocked! – at the very idea someone associated with Obamacare would characterize Americans as stupid for not paying attention. Republicans have depended on that to get elected for years.
The color of the president’s skin should not be his shield, thus striking fear in the hearts of cowardly Republicans. Obama’s plan to give legal status to illegal immigrants should be met with articles of impeachment.
The USA Today screams, “Blacks arrested up to 10 times more.” Another day, another national media outlet fanning the flames of racial divide. How about an article on how to heal instead of one that divides? Oh, that doesn’t sell newspapers. Right.
Imagine if the electricity, water and television signals could be delivered based on the rate you pay. Let’s talk net neutrality.
Rep. Tim Huelskamp’s picture on the Opinion page again. We all know he’s been re-elected. Now, please, just let his devoted Kansas constituents and House Speaker John Boehner deal with him. I don’t want to constantly see or read about him for another two years.
I’m not a fan of Bill Cosby, but I don’t think it’s right to ruin a person’s reputation over things that may have been done in the past when the victims were too cowardly to come forward when it happened. Where is the physical evidence? Even if he is innocent, his reputation is ruined.
If I had a pet whale and it needed a name, I think I would call it “Limbaugh.”
Cashiers, shut your pieholes and keep the line moving.
Children should not be used in TV commercials because they are hard to understand.
”Kentucky rejects Kansas notion of offense” – what a lame Sports headline. The Eagle could not even bring itself to show the embarrassing score in the headline. If KU had won by 32, the numbers would have been in huge type.
I am thinking that was pretty embarrassing what Kentucky did to all those civilized KU fans in the state. Please pass the cheese.
