Pompeo ready to work with Speaker Ryan

Last week Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, deferred a question from McClatchy’s Lindsay Wise about whether he’d support Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., for House speaker. But Pompeo said in a Tuesday statement: “Congressman Ryan is a true, free-market warrior. I look forward to working with him to advance conservative principles to benefit the American people.” Earlier this month, Pompeo had expressed interest in the post himself. – Rhonda Holman
