Opinion Line Extra (Oct. 28)

Why would anyone think that a successful businessman or brain surgeon couldn’t be as good or better as president than a failed community organizer from Chicago?

The presidential candidate who promises to use their full constitutional authority, without breaking the law, to clean out the government and prosecute corruption gets my vote.

Benghazi was a tragic situation. Anything more would have been uncovered by now. If there are any damaging “findings” to announce, you won’t hear about them until about three weeks before the election (if Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee). Timing is everything in our politically motivated world.

The naive folks who think that Hillary Clinton seemed so cool under the pressure of intense questioning by a bunch of “mean men” don’t know that liars spend countless hours honing that craft.

It is already beginning. A Republican congressman, Mo Brooks, is promising impeachment if Hillary is elected president.

The Republicans talk of impeachment of Clinton when they don’t know the facts and she hasn’t even been elected. Then they state to American people they only seek the truth. Come on now. I have some swampland in Florida for sale.

If you can’t afford it, you can’t have it. Seems reasonable to me, whether the item in question is health insurance or anything else. It just seems like common sense.

Republicans, have you seen enough from King Brownback and his court jesters? They are denying the peasants insurance and their right to vote. Republicans: Don’t wait till the next election to make a change. Please contact your representatives, the governor and Kris Kobach and tell them you want change now.

I rarely read Leonard Pitts, but did read “We need cops with people skills” (Oct. 19 Opinion). I love our policemen, but tend to agree with Pitts. We have too many rogue cops in this country, and it is time for a change.

Law-abiding citizens do not get shot. The rallying cries of protests across this country fall on deaf ears for those who respect law and authority. Criminal acts and the accompanying self-justifying excuses for these actions do not make them legal. It matters not as to the race of the individual.

Someone thinks “Thursday-night TV shows are an absolute wasteland.” How about most of the day, every day? The land of the free now has very minimal choices between “packages” despite several “providers.” We get to subsidize a monopoly of mostly objectionable garbage at exorbitant rates.

Nearly all of the calls I get on my landline are fraudulent, mainly about reducing my credit card rate. I get a “final notice” at least once a day.

Let the Texas textbooks show that Houston won that Game 4, and went on to win the series.
