Opinion Line Extra (Oct. 27)
The unstatesmanlike, pompous, rude behavior the Republicans displayed during the Benghazi hearing just elected Hillary Clinton, in my opinion. I was embarrassed by such hateful behavior. How did these men get elected?
Pompous Mike Pompeo accomplished nothing but grandstanding for the witch hunt committee, along with the rest of the Republicans, while Hillary Clinton showed them all what a president looks like. Bravo.
The front-page story on Clinton’s testimony headlined “Clinton confronts GOP critics in Benghazi hearing” (Oct. 23 Eagle) was nothing but a pro-Clinton propaganda piece. The headline should have read, “Clinton caught in a number of lies and inconsistencies in Benghazi hearing.”
The headline should have read, “Clinton takes hours of verbal abuse and confrontation from GOP Benghazi committee members.” The headline writer and editor must be radical Republicans.
In his Benghazi questioning, Pompeo continuously said that “his constituents” didn’t agree with however Clinton responded. How is he sure of that statement? How would firing someone appease him in the first place?
I heard Pompeo start a sentence with “not one person has been charged” and immediately thought that finally he was going to say something about the fact that none of the wealthy who caused housing and the economy to collapse have been charged or jailed.
Benghazi: Hillary Clinton wins her second debate.
Hillary Clinton: If her lips are moving, she’s lying.
Think the Bengazi hearing wasn’t politically motivated? You don’t know much about politics. All congressional committee hearings, whether initiated by Democrats or Republicans, are at least partly motivated by the desire to score political points. Always has been that way, always will be.
Don’t conflate legal migration from war-torn states like Syria and Ukraine with illegal immigration from Mexico.
One contributor claimed the U.S. had the best health care system in the world. The U.S. has never had the best health care system and never will as long as we continue to let the insurance companies run the system.
We have had the most expensive health care system in the world but ranked 15th in delivering quality service to the people. Remember, George W. Bush was the most expensive president in the nation’s history. Got it now?
I don’t see any cooperation in Wichita. I see the same people monopolizing the show. Everyone’s fighting and nothing gets done. It’s all going downhill.
How about a brick-and-mortar bookstore in the northwest quadrant of the city? Barnes & Noble? Anyone?
We have a lot of beautiful weather in Wichita and Kansas. When reporting the weather, please don’t be afraid to utilize your vocabularies, and let the world know it.
It seems like pro athletes always do best when they are on the last year of their contact before becoming a free agent. Teams should try to operate using good one-year contracts as much as possible.
