Opinion Line (Oct. 25)

Why did Hillary Clinton need a week to prepare for the Benghazi hearing when the truth needs no preparation?

Clinton e-mailed her daughter on the night of the Benghazi assault saying it was by an “al-Qaida-like group.” Then she told the lie for days that an Internet video was responsible. But those who accept her lying will not care. That is why our nation is rotting from within.

Which is worse – the unnecessary tragedy in Benghazi or the unnecessary tragedy in Iraq?

Men yelling at Clinton made her seem so cool under attack that I now believe she would be a great president. They showed their cards and shamed only themselves.

We can be thankful as Kansans that Rep. Tim Huelskamp isn’t on the Benghazi select committee. Rep. Mike Pompeo was more than enough embarrassment to the state.

I am so ashamed of the folks who represent us in Congress. Rudeness and arrogance are not unique to Kansas representatives, but why do we as Kansas voters find these traits not only acceptable but, evidently, desirable?

Why did Rep. Paul Ryan get to write his own job description for House speaker? I’d love to know how he thought he could be vice president and not have to be on call around the clock. Don’t take the job if you don’t like the requirements.

How about Donald Trump as president and Ben Carson as vice president? Maybe that would be a winning combination to bring the United States back to what it once was.

Obama is on a caviar and Champagne diet on the backs of people forced to consume sardines and recycled water.

Sedgwick County needs a County Commission chairman who speaks to and for all its citizens, not a right-wing bigot. Get rid of Richard Ranzau before he opens his mouth again and makes the county government look worse than he already has.

Why is it that our public buildings are not kept up? We always see the deterioration of buildings beyond the cost of replacement, such as the police training center, Century II and now the Capitol power plant. Who’s not doing the repairs and upgrades to keep and maintain these buildings’ integrity?

I guess my representatives in Topeka feel that their constituents on fixed incomes with high medical bills are not contributing enough to business owners’ bottom lines. Why else would they want me to help pay their state income taxes?

Was the big tax cut in 2012 a job creator? Nope. Did it increase revenue? Nope. So, what was next? A big increase in sales tax, disproportionately affecting the poorest in the state. Did it meet revenue projections? Nope. Any chance of the state pulling itself out of this hole? Nope.

The political science professors from various Kansas universities who write columns published by The Eagle attempt to outdo each other in establishing their liberal credentials and political correctness. Apparently if you desire a decent education in this field, you will have to leave the state.

Please do not take your children out in public when they have a fever. You are spreading the sickness around.
