Opinion Line Extra (Oct. 22)

Corporations shouldn’t be encouraging people to go on welfare. They should pay better wages and offer more hours.

Looking at the paper and watching local and national TV news, it appears sports are much more important than local, national and international issues. If this much attention were concentrated on health research, there would be no more diseases.

I found a bag full of chicken heads that I think may belong to congressional Republicans. Maybe they want them back, or maybe they’re happiest running around without them.

Donald Trump and Sarah Palin – what a ticket. Go for it, mad tea party.

Trump says all of our troubles will disappear if we get rid of illegal immigrants. Didn’t someone say the same thing in Germany in the 1930s about the Jews?

Charles Koch says he’s a “classical liberal.” New levels of propaganda are being spun.

Beware the conservative talking about rules over outcomes.

I agree with County Commission Chairman Richard Ranzau. I don’t like paying for illegals. They are breaking the law. Why should I pay for their illegal activity? That is sending a message to every illegal to come to Wichita. No wonder our school system needs more money.

What part of “well regulated” don’t the ammosexuals understand?

Well, well – now the oil barons like ConocoPhillips want to reverse a 40-year-old law barring them from exporting oil produced in the USA. Is that Keystone pipeline that makes a beeline to the Gulf starting to make sense now?

Imagine if the DMV held up 37,000 licenses to catch three people who shouldn’t drive. Kris Kobach does that with voter registration. Imagine if your gun registration and 37,000 others were held up to catch three criminals. Imagine 37,000 traffic stops to catch three drivers without licenses.

For the past 30 years I have traveled to Pennsylvania several times every year. Not once, until this month, have gasoline prices been less expensive in Pennsylvania than in Wichita. Why are we paying 30 cents too much for a gallon of gasoline in Wichita?

I hear so many stories about people with jobs and no transportation; some ride bikes or walk many miles when buses aren’t available, because of route and time restraints. So it seems a bit unfair that Jay Leno owns “about 140 cars and about 170 motorcycles.” Just saying.

It is so nice when it is Parade of Homes time, so we can have all those yellow yard signs illegally posted at almost every corner. I guess it is OK, as the builders are the buddies of the City Council so they don’t have to follow the rules.

And so it came to pass that the God of football cast a darkness across the land of Oz. Neither KU nor KSU would be blessed to win another game all season.
