Opinion Line (Nov. 21)

It’s an inconvenient truth that the upper Midwest and Northeast are getting record amounts of snow in November just as President Obama pledges $3 billion to a United Nations committee “fighting” climate change.


What do the Republican supporters of the Keystone pipeline think would happen to the pipeline if we had a 6.8 magnitude earthquake along its path? That would be 100 times stronger than the recent 4.8 quake. Or a 7.8 quake?


We all, especially farmers, can thank the Democrats in the Senate for protecting our Ogallala Aquifer by voting down the Keystone pipeline.


It used to be that all this country needed was a good 5-cent cigar. Look at us now.


If you don’t know who Jonathan Gruber is, you are one of the voters he was talking about.


News flash: Insurance premiums were already going up 20 percent a year before Obamacare. Now at least the insurance companies have to use a higher percentage of the money to pay for care, rather than pocket the additional premiums.


If Obamacare is repealed, there will be no reason to have insurance. Just go to the emergency room and be treated. Let someone else pay for it. That’s the Republican way.


Why don’t we reduce the school budgets by enough that they won’t have surplus enough to sue the Kansas taxpayers?


The Legislature may raise taxes? I thought Republicans were against any tax increase. What happened to lower taxes, less regulation and smaller government? Oh, I know – the election is over.


“Tax cuts also costly in North Carolina” (Nov. 16 Now Consider This)? I’m so confused. Please explain how North Carolina’s tax cuts will cost $205 million more than expected. Only in government accounting can you say a tax cut leads to a cost.


Did anybody else see that red, yellow and blue chicken hawk get shot out of the sky on prime time TV Tuesday night? Pow! Nothing left but a squawk and a puff of feathers.
