Opinion Line Extra (Nov. 20)

If we have a water problem in Wichita, why do the illustrious leaders in the city let golf courses use water from above and below the ground while we spend money to replenish the water supply? The golf courses do not have to be green.


It’s all in the details, as our city leaders learned when losing the tax referendum.


Drivers sit in the fire lane at Dillons while their companions go inside. I asked one to move so people could get by and he said, “It’s people like you who are the problem, sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong.” No, they are just lazy and inconsiderate.


Quit making kids you’re unwilling to foot the bill for yourself and stop sponging off the taxpayer. If there’s no suffering for bad life choices, you won’t stop making them and your kids won’t learn from that.


Washington, D.C., led the way in the United States in 2012 with spending in restaurants. I wonder who paid for that.


We could be mature adults about this by skipping the civil war and going with a boundary down the center of the frontier strip. After flipping the coin and relocating, we start over: the United Liberal and Conservative States of America.


“I don’t want a shutdown and I don’t want the threat of a shutdown. Because that doesn’t serve our purposes,” said Rep. Hal Rogers, R-Ky. Shame. I thought Congress was supposed to serve the country’s purposes, not just Republican purposes.


For the first time in recent memory, my insurance premium and deductibles for 2015 remain the same as 2014. Regardless of the naysayers, Obamacare must be working.


Was the last election a referendum for less government control in our businesses and more government control in our lives? Darn, I voted incorrectly again.


It was unconstitutional to ever hold a referendum on people’s civil rights. Should we put slavery on the ballot?


So if you don’t photograph my “ceremony,” I will sue you into bankruptcy so you can’t own your own business if you want. Really? When do gays stop running this country?


Why do we have courts that usurp the will of the people? Because sometimes the will of the people is wrong. Examples of the tyranny of the majority abound, and it’s the courts’ job to steer a people toward justice when the people don’t recognize what justice is.


It is obvious following the last election that the majority of Kansas voters have no interest in the state’s educational system of the future or in utilizing their educational system of the past.


Since the elections ended (mercifully), my husband keeps picking up our home phone and listening for a dial tone to be sure it’s still working.
