Opinion Line (Nov. 20)

If our former politicians “love” Kansas so much, then why do most of them leave and retire elsewhere when their terms are finished?

It strikes me that the guy who bragged about his role on Obamacare and how stupid the proles are is not really that bright either. I never called the people paying me “stupid.” They might have quit paying me.

Those who say Obamacare was a lie and is hurting people probably get their facts from Fox News and the misleading Republican propaganda machine. Believe me – I work in health care and the truth is the opposite. The ACA is helping people and reducing cost.

People keep asking why we are not allowed the option to vote on same-sex marriage. We already did, yet judges think they have the right to cancel our vote. If the gays would have had the guts to fight for a revote and then won, they would have my blessing.

The courts can issue all the same-sex marriage rulings they want, but a sin is still a sin is still a sin.

Nobody has yet presented me with a convincing argument that the same-sex couple down the street having a piece of paper that says they can file a joint tax return has any adverse effect on me or mine.

It’s against federal law to have marijuana. But if enough voters in a state vote for it, then it’s legal. But if 70 percent vote against gay marriage, the court says the state can’t do that and makes it legal. Doesn’t make sense.

Just because 70 percent of the people vote in a law doesn’t mean 70 percent of the people know the law. That’s why we have judges, to tell you that you were wrong.

If we allow same-sex marriage, then we should allow two people of any sex to form a shared benefits partnership. Many live with a lifelong friend and want to have security. It makes sense in today’s world.

Why is it that when Republicans win close elections it is pointed out that only 50 percent of the 50 percent voted for them, but when Democrats win close elections it is called a shellacking?

If students only get a week to write a paper, shouldn’t the teacher only get a week to grade the paper?

Bishop Carroll Catholic High School has the best school spirit in the state.
