Opinion Line (Nov. 17)
You vote Republican. They stab you in the back. You complain. They promise you the world. You vote Republican. They stab you in the back. You complain. They promise you the world. You vote Republican, etc. That’s an abusive relationship.
Now that the GOP has assumed control of the House and Senate, the best course is to reduce spending, overhaul and dramatically simplify the tax code, and eliminate the outrageous capital gains tax. Lower taxes and a simpler tax code would help create jobs and benefit us all.
Who thinks in Kansas you “set your watch back 25 years”? Voter ID laws are new, decreasing income tax rates is new. What’s not new is the idea you fix a problem by throwing money at it, and we voted against that.
As if fools walking into walls as they text, standing outside filling their lungs with smoke or eating themselves into obesity weren’t enough of a burden on co-workers who do not behave this way, we soon may have to pick up the slack for co-workers allowed to smoke pot legally.
If marriage can now be the union of any two people, who’s to say that in 20 years it won’t be the union of any two living things? If abortion isn’t considered murder because unborn children aren’t considered people, who’s to say that infanticide won’t become socially acceptable as well?
What is the matter with people that they can’t use their own minds for what is good for the state instead of voting for what the newspapers or other leaders say?
Parents who track phones are ruining children’s lives. It is a breach in privacy, almost like reading a diary.
Being a teenager and watching others makes me understand why we’re stereotyped. Wear some pants and put on a shirt. Once you’ve accomplished that, pull up your pants and put on a belt. Have a little self-respect; break the stereotype.
The lack of knowledge that teens have toward government makes me wonder how the next generation’s government will function.
Students need more sleep. I think school should start later on in the day so that students can come well-rested.
Students need less homework. It causes so much stress in us. We become like bombs, and we sometimes explode.
I love how when it’s time to clean the house, your parents say it’s “our house,” but any other time it’s their house.
