Kansas would benefit if Pompeo were speaker

An idea that could be hugely beneficial for Kansas has emerged from the chaos on Capitol Hill: Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, as successor to House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio. The 4th District’s three-term congressman has made a name for himself related to national security by serving on the House Intelligence Committee and special Benghazi panel. Unlike many of the fire-breathing conservatives he largely agrees with on issues, he has a proven interest and ability in actually passing bipartisan legislation. A Speaker Pompeo likely would ensure Kansas regained its seat on the House Agriculture Committee. But it was just last year that Pompeo said: “I am not a career politician; I don’t plan to do this forever.” – Rhonda Holman
