To reduce the number of mass shootings, our country should universally adopt the mantra “See something, say something.” There should be phone numbers to call and follow-up by authorities.
It is the National Rifle Association that has long politicized the issue of gun control by threatening members of Congress terrified to buck the NRA lest they lose their seat. For that reason alone we cannot get the sensible gun control the majority wants.
Yo, America – you bail on God and He will someday bail on America. Watch what you ask for.
Profits are the business owner’s wages. There is no incentive to own a business without the profit motive.
Our government is building an artificial housing bubble that will soon burst, making a big mess.
Persons who tend to like to push other people’s buttons are really bullies. That includes verbal, mental, emotional abuse. When you finally stand up to these people, they say, “oh, poor me – so and so is so mean.” What a racket they have going for themselves.
Compromise involves recognizing that you are sharing the planet with other God-fearing individuals who happen to have different points of view and who are also entitled to respect.
The bike rider who called the Wichita City Council members “idiots” should look in the mirror. Last October on an unlit street I hit a guy without light on his bike. It’s your choice – be seen or spend time in the hospital and months in rehab.
As the city of Wichita is paying people for bicycle lights, will the city pay me if my car headlight goes out?
I drove round-trip from Wichita to Fredonia, east on U.S. 54, west on U.S. 400. The speed limit is 65 mph. I set the cruise control at 70. Lots of traffic. I did not pass even one vehicle, but was passed many times. People are insane.
Sometimes it bothers me when The Eagle shows things on Page 1 that aren’t “breaking news.” But I appreciated the picture of a leopard cub surrounded by headlines about the Oregon gunman, a neo-Nazi shopping for land in Kansas, and uncertainty for school funding and disabled Kansans (Oct. 3 Eagle).
The Eagle has its priorities wrong when it comes to which stories make the front page. A story about U.S. trains being shut down is far more important than a racist buying land in Kansas.
Well, we now know one of the consequences of having a right-wing government controlling Kansas – a neo-Nazi leader now wants to come here and live, and bring his kind with him.
Trust me– there are many, many people who do not worship football and its overpaid players, and who find the NFL more boring than watching paint dry.
