Opinion Line (Oct. 4)
Wichita’s legacy wealthy, many of whom are or were entrepreneurs, owe it to our community to help today’s entrepreneurs get started. These people are trying to create new businesses, wealth and jobs.
Maybe Wichita’s wealthy should put more of their money into startup company investing, i.e., venture capitalism, and less money into quality of life institutions. After all, quality of life in Wichita doesn’t matter much without jobs.
Maybe the passenger count is up at Eisenhower National Airport because people are fleeing for their lives.
Any gun control should focus on gangs, illegal guns and mental health issues. Taking guns away from honest, sane citizens just ensures that the good guys will be at risk.
Obama uses mass shootings to forward his agenda to take guns away from 100 million law-abiding citizens so he can control us. If he were a responsible president with a positive agenda, he would focus on mental illness and stop trying to control the population through gun control.
The president needs to enact gun control now, on his own. Our representatives are weak. Abolish the NRA.
Mass killings have become so common that instead of being given the publicity they crave, these idiots should be assigned a word with a random two-digit number (so none is No. 1). The 2015 shooters could be called Coward37, Coward41, etc. In 2016 they could be Loser52, Loser83, etc.
The problem is not with guns. It is with the heart of man. The human heart has turned toward evil, and no laws can prevent that – only a change in the heart of humans.
Unlimited access to guns – not working. Tax breaks for the rich – not working. Mother Nature will correct climate change – not working.
With Vladimir Putin in Syria today you can see the disastrous foreign policy of President Obama. The disaster of Obamacare and skyrocketing electric costs from his killing coal may take a bit longer. I would say hold on to your wallet, but it won’t help.
All those critics of the president have become very good at not saying what they think the president ought to be doing instead of what he is doing, including Rep. Mike Pompeo.
Expanding Medicaid is insufficient to correct medical inadequacies in our society. Medicare-for-all provides the best solution.
Kansas is a financial and sociopolitical disaster. In 2016 I get to shake the dust off my sandals, take my money and leave.
Attorney General Derek Schmidt should be backing the judges and not letting the power-mad governor control the judiciary.
Let’s see – three U.S. zoos get a total 18 elephants from Swaziland to live the rest of their lives in prison, including a $10.6 million one in Wichita. A hunter kills one old lion and half the world is in an uproar. I guess if I were an animal, I would rather be an elephant.
The NFL is boring. With all of the off-season drama, it’s basically a soap opera for men.
