Thank you, veterans, for your service and our freedom.

Mattress sales around Veterans Day make perfect sense to me. Those “bunk riders” in the barracks eventually leave the barracks and come home.

Obama’s economic policies were not going to work. The Soviet Union has already proved that.

Our president “thinks” he can hear people who haven’t said anything while ignoring words shouted to him during an election.

Going into this election Congress had an approval rating of 19 percent, and yet every Kansas incumbent was re-elected. To Kansas voters 19 percent must be acceptable, which is a sad reflection on our state.

Kansans failed to see that the future is the real issue; we failed to understand that competence, performance and results are the qualifying skills. Worse, by failing to require the character, dedication and will to deliver those skills, we made sure that Kansas will not get the benefit of them.

I wonder what taxes will be raised and what programs will be cut by Gov. Sam Brownback to meet the income deficit in Kansas. Perhaps a big sales tax boost and a cut to education and safety net programs.

Instead of whining about what Brownback is allegedly doing to Kansas, why don’t you use your energy to move to another state? May we suggest one of the pothead states? We imagine that after living there a while, you will decide Kansas wasn’t so bad after all.

How come red Kansas has some blue counties?

Remember Paul Davis’ ad digging that hole deeper? That was really Kansas’ voters digging their own graves.

Is this the time to say there is no god, or God help us?

I feel like I am living in a Third World country since I can no longer feel confident that my vote will be counted.

I have tried both red Kool-Aid and blue Kool-Aid. They both stink.

The government cannot and should not make our lives easier. That’s not its role. All it can do is tax us, which makes our lives poorer. The tax it takes should make our lives safer – national defense. The tax it steals should make it easier to get to work, infrastructure.

According to columnist Leonard Pitts, every situation is about race. This guy needs to get a life.
