Opinion Line (Oct. 2)
The city and Sedgwick County joined forces to participate in the Wichita Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cookoff. Was anyone surprised when theirs was one of the first groups to run out of chili, and then had bunches of folks just standing around doing nothing?
The infamous Carr brothers did not murder only four innocent persons (Sept. 29 Eagle). Without mercy they killed five, including cellist Ann Walenta, and intended to kill a total of six. We must never forget the horrors of that night. I pray the U.S. Supreme Court agrees they deserve execution.
I grew up during the 1950s. We had air raid drills. We went to the lowest level of the school, sat down, bent over and covered our heads. This may be the new norm for our schools in 2015. Russia is in charge. How sad.
When a president’s approval rating is above 80 percent, he can pretty much do whatever he wants. Vladimir Putin’s approval rating is above 80 percent.
Putin’s ambition is to take over the whole Middle East to control the world’s oil supply, while Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama want to stifle our oil industries. Go figure.
The question about Syria should be whether Russian military action will increase or decrease the refugee problem now plaguing Europe.
When Clinton goes on trial, I want to be on the jury. That woman deserves 10 years in prison.
Name one alleged scandal of Clinton that has been proved true. Not one. If so, she’d be in jail. All her supposed scandals have been fabricated by writers such as David Brock who later confessed to literary hit jobs. More than eight congressional hearings on Benghazi have turned up nothing.
The purely political Benghazi “investigations” and the unconscionable assault on Planned Parenthood make me think we should change the name of the capital to Salem, D.C.
Have any of the Republicans running for president destroyed thousands of e-mails?
The speaker of the House can be anyone and does not have to be a member of Congress. I nominate Donald Trump for the position. He would be a burr under everyone’s saddle, Republican and Democrat.
Wannabe WSU football fans can find some solace in the fact that this year WSU has won just as many games as KU. What’s more, WSU doesn’t have a 31-game losing streak on the road and didn’t just play in the “worst game ever.”
I see my wife has made her contribution to Opinion Line. I can’t believe anyone else would find the NFL boring.
