Opinion Line Extra (Sept. 30)
It’s fitting that Sam Brownback would want Kansans to be prepared for a zombie apocalypse since his time as governor has been such a disaster.
It looks like Donald Trump sought Sam Brownback’s advice and hired Arthur Laffer to develop Trump’s income tax plan.
Observing the Republicans’ process of getting the candidate of their choice is better than watching a three-ring circus.
Why do I get the feeling that Barack Obama and Pope Francis are both neo-Marxist rock stars? Anyway, I think I made the right decision when I left the Catholic Church about 50 years ago.
As I recall, when the lottery first began in Kansas, promoters said it would help fund education. Hmm.
The great wall of China was constructed years ago, and is 13,170 miles long. The United States border with Mexico is only 1,933 miles long. Why do people believe that it would be impossible to build a wall on our southern border?
It requires no courage to act when you have nothing at risk. Speaker John Boehner’s desire for greatness lacked the courage to do the right thing when everything was on the line. Boehner may get his footnote in history, but probably not the one he’d hoped for.
Getting Boehner to resign is a step in the right direction, and one of the best things to happen in several years. Now if we could get about 85 percent of the rest of those D.C. do-nothings to do the same, just think of what this country could do.
George Bush said the mission was accomplished in Iraq. Maybe his brother Jeb wants to go back and try to finish the job George lied about.
“Spending our way out of debt,” as Bernie Sanders advocates, is a big reason our country is in so much trouble.
Columnist Charles Krauthammer asked “who’s left” for GOP candidates to insult? How about Asians? Jeb Bush stepped in it with comments on a group that the GOP is losing.
Jesse Jackson’s avocation is a community organizer. Al Sharpton’s avocation is a community organizer. What did the American public expect to receive when it elected Barack Obama?
I’m still waiting for any proof whatsoever that Obama was a “constitutional scholar,” or that he even attended classes. Where are his fellow professors? Where are any of his classmates? Where are his former students? Why are his records inaccessible?
You can’t stop a person from doing what they want to do. They’ll start lying to continue doing it. The more unethical the act, the bigger the lie.
So columnist Davis Merritt is still whining about “the majority” who lost the election. Dream on. Elections have consequences.
