Opinion Line Extra (Sept. 28)

The radical Republicans in Congress, by issuing statements that compromise is never acceptable, are essentially advocating a new type of dictatorship should they take over our government, which is why John Boehner is leaving.

With the advocating that countries take new immigrants, the Vatican needs to open its gates and take its fair share. I feel confident there are many open rooms in monasteries and nunneries around the world that could house thousands of immigrants, and surely the Vatican can support these needy folks.

Even the new police chief candidate didn’t want to come to Kansas, and I see we have also lost 3,000 more jobs in August. No one in their right mind would want to come to this state with Sam Brownback’s polices.

When did business owners or their employees decide it’s a wise and acceptable business practice or good manners, for that matter, to not acknowledge customers when they walk through the door?

If you are not prepared to put something back where you got it in a store, don’t pick it up in the first place. Look with your eyes, not your hands. If you are not prepared to control your kids, leave them at home.

Meteorologist Dave Freeman and others: Please stop worrying about the fair, Riverfest or anything else, especially stupid “Friday Football Fever.” Those are the least of our worries. What we need is rain. Better hope and pray we get some.
