Opinion Line (Sept. 28)

The apologies of these CEOs whose companies have been busted for egregious conduct are so phony. The only thing they are sorry for is that they were caught. And they would still be doing the big no-no if they hadn’t been.

How many times in the past five years have you heard the phrase “I take full responsibility”? It means nothing anymore, since there is never any accountability or punishment for it.

I hope all you tree-huggin’ liberals who own VW cars plan to sell them soon. You’re killing us.

We Hewlett-Packard owners wish Carly Fiorina had gotten the presidential bug years earlier.

Pope Saint John Paul II helped Reagan bring down communism in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. Contrast that with Pope Francis’ facilitating hugs and grins between Obama and the murderous communist leaders of Cuba.

Pope Francis asked the members of Congress to confront polarization and build the greatest common good – in other words, do what they are elected to do.

Fifty-four percent of Republicans and 66 percent of Trump supporters believe Obama is a Muslim. How could our educational system have failed them so badly?

Where are the birthers when you need them? Ted Cruz was not born in the USA, and not a single Republican has complained. Double standard?

Interesting how those who scream the most about family values have no hesitation to break up immigrant families by deportation.

I just saw an ad where the Missouri Lottery claimed all net proceeds from its lottery go to fund education. Pity ours mostly go into the “general fund,” where the Einsteins in Topeka can squander them.

The Eagle seems to give forum to an endless supply of college faculty members who bloviate their liberal bias. This is fine, but I wonder how many of these professors influence policy in those institutions that limit, impede or prohibit free speech by conservative students or groups.

Why do newspapers keep calling Gov. Sam Brownback and his cohorts in the Legislature “conservatives”? They are so radical that “fascists” is the proper term.

Someone is proud of Obama? Remind me not to drink coffee while I’m reading the Opinion page. My wife does not appreciate coffee spilled on the table.

I followed The Eagle’s cornflakes-crusted chicken breast recipe (Sept. 16 WichiTalk). I’m guessing “425 degrees” should have read “325 degrees.” Somebody owes me three chicken breasts.
