Opinion Line (Sept. 26)

These Republican presidential candidates have had four years to get ready to speak to the middle- and lower-income people and present logical solutions to many problems. Nothing. Zero. Democrats win again.

Some Republican candidates strike fear in the hearts of Democrats. The media successfully removed Gov. Scott Walker from the Republican primary field, mostly by ignoring him, particularly in the debates. Their next target is Sen. Ted Cruz.

Mindlessness is destroying the planet. Only mindfulness can save it. No deity required.

I wonder how the Secret Service would have reacted if that student had brought his clock in a briefcase into the White House unannounced.

I’d love to have been a fly on the wall in the White House meeting of Obama and Pope Francis. Undoubtedly our infallible, know-it-all president schooled the pope on Catholicism.

I don’t get it. What’s the big deal about the pope? He’s just a man, like any other pastor or man of God, preaching the word of Christ. He’s definitely not God. Why do so many make him out to be, and make such a fuss over him?

Health care costs keep rising, and workers’ deductibles have increased seven times faster than wages over the past decade. So much for premiums going down $2,500 a year with Obamacare. You’ve been duped. Think next time, and don’t listen to the hype before you vote.

Gov. Sam Brownback is still resistant to Medicaid expansion. There is a desperate need for a really good leader who will mobilize the poor, sick, elderly and disabled in a statewide movement to sack Brownback and the legislators who support him.

Two events of lunacy are so opposite. One is a natural, reoccurring lunar eclipse that mystifies the masses. The other is a mindless edict by a governor that prevents abundant medical aid intended to heal the poor masses.

To the person who thinks those receiving government assistance should not be able to vote, “as it is truly a conflict of interest”: Excuse me. You are so clueless. I have been disabled since I was born, and it is my legal right to vote.

Let all those who say we do not need refugees put on their working clothes and do the dirty work such refugees now do. In America there is something for everyone, even you complainers.

On country roads, trash has a way of escaping from the windows of cars and beds of trucks. When it gets into the pens and lots where curious animals are maintained, it spells trouble. We can have either an expensive vet bill or a dead animal. Think twice before littering.

Wichita could use three more car lots and at least four more mattress stores.
