Opinion Line (Nov. 9)

Congressional Democrats still haven’t learned that it’s not smart to squat when wearing spurs.

Definition of “You have to be kidding”: the man who vowed to oppose everything that President Obama tried to do, and who led a record number of filibusters, having the audacity to stand in front of cameras with a straight face and advocate working together in a bipartisan manner.

Notice that when Republicans win elections, Democrats and the media always say Republicans must work with Democrats now, never the other way around. Losers do the compromising.

Hey, everybody who’s worried about what we spend on elections: We spend $370 million a year on Halloween costumes for pets. Maybe we should address that first.

Democrats took an early lead in the midterm elections. But once the Republicans got off work, that early lead faded fast.

From reading Opinion Line, one has to conclude that Republicans are very sore winners.

Some say it’s good that the governor will have to clean up his own mess. But Sam Brownback won’t even admit that there is a problem, which means that he has no intention of doing anything. I shudder to think what it’s going to be like in the next four years.

The Republicans received a little over half of the votes on Election Day. Since only about half of the registered voters voted, that means they got a little over half of a half of the registered voters. Half of a half is one-fourth, so there’s no mandate.

The only positive thing about Brownback being re-elected governor – in four years Kansas will be so far in debt it will have to resort to legalizing marijuana to dig itself out.

With four area sales taxes going down to defeat, that should tell the powers to be we don’t want any more taxes.

City officials already wasted the money for our streets and our water. And you silly “yes” voters wanted to give them more. Donate if you like.

So Mayor Carl Brewer gets on TV and threatens higher property taxes and water rates. When Cheney Reservoir was built, the federal government paid for most of the work. If we have such great Republican leaders in Kansas, why don’t they go to Congress and get money to enlarge it?

There are two kinds of poor people – poor for no reason of their own and poor because of every reason of their own. Until there is a way to separate the two, there is always going to be disagreement on how to take care of the poor.

The Sedgwick County Zoo is down to one elephant. I think karma is trying to tell the simpleminded that they have no business wasting millions of dollars on more.

An elephant dies at the zoo and the Republicans win re-election – coincidence?

Anyone who has served in the military and slept in barracks is bewildered why Veterans Day is known for its mattress sales.
