Opinion Line (Sept. 25)

Pope Francis for president.

The pope should have told Congress: “Your lobbyists are destroying your country, and your presidency should never be bought with money. Repent, you sinners.”

It has been wonderful for a few days to see the humility of the pope, in contrast to hearing Donald Trump brag about how rich and smart he is.

I knew John Paul II. John Paul II was a hero of mine. Francis, you are no John Paul II.

Since the pope advocates that the U.S. take a lot of new immigrants, I assume the Vatican is prepared to send us billions of dollars in foreign aid to help defray the expenses of feeding, housing, clothing, educating and providing medical care for them.

I see Obama rolled out the red carpet for the pope, a Christian world leader. If Obama is really a Muslim, he stinks at it.

All this talk about putting a Muslim in the White House simply amazes me. What do you think we’ve had as president for the past seven years?

I’ve reviewed the state of our country, the anti-police sentiment, the inability of the justice system to curtail criminal activity and the expected wave of Muslim immigration, and reached the inescapable conclusion that I need to carry a bigger gun.

Interesting how the CEO of Volkswagen resigns over the emissions scandal and is likely to be rewarded with a $32 million severance.

Am I missing something? What did Volkswagen think it was going to gain by perpetrating this massive smog fog on us?

Maybe we should be doing a search for a new city manager, due to the fact that he couldn’t fill the job of police chief in a year.

You’ve seen the mouth-watering fast-food TV ads. But if you expect to buy a sandwich with that much meat and sauce, I have news for you.

Yes, the new devices are harmful to kids and relationships in general (Sept. 24 WichiTalk). Unless you deliver babies for a living, there is no reason to be checking your phone every two minutes. Parents: The kids you are ignoring today are the kids who will ignore you tomorrow.

There is a special place in hell for the people who wait until the last moment to merge at the construction on eastbound Kellogg at Meridian. I have an idea: Don’t let them in.

It ain’t over till it’s over. Now it’s over.
