Opinion Line (Sept. 19)
Having political experience means two things: You can be bought and you have been bought.
Thoughts after Wednesday’s debate: Neither party deserves to elect a president. The country has gone from one debacle to another over the past 15 years, and both parties are equally to blame. Which leaves the question: Who?
It’s kind of funny that Donald Trump calls the leader of North Korea a madman, when it looks like they have the same barber.
Fiorina-Carson – 2016 Republican dream ticket.
Despite all the hullabaloo, I still like Scott Walker and Marco Rubio.
If being the president’s wife qualifies Hillary Clinton for being in charge of the State Department two terms later and the presidency four terms later, we are in for even greater nightmares in the future with Michelle Obama.
How can a former first lady, senator and secretary of state be “unqualified” to run for president? The only person who might (slightly) have been more qualified than Hillary Clinton to run for president was George H.W. Bush.
As a truth-in-advertising issue, we need to change the symbol of America’s government. The bald eagle no longer fits. My thoughts are the octopus or a boa constrictor. They have their tentacles in everything but also are choking us to death with overregulation and taxes. Decisions, decisions.
Look at the price of Obama gasoline. And the Republicans wanted to drill in pristine areas, said Obama has no energy policy, etc. It looks like the free market worked.
Gov. Sam Brownback’s destructive economic actions have forced a change in the old adage “You can’t fix what ain’t broke.” It is now: “You can’t fix what ain’t broke, but if you tinker around enough you sure can break it.”
Raising taxes, as the Democrats propose to do on fossil fuels, won’t create any net new jobs. Tax hikes only dislocate existing jobs.
I have never heard a politician admit a mistake. They blame others, spin the facts or just lie to our faces. Some example for all of our kids. Is this some kind of new “family value”? We could do better by randomly choosing our representatives in Topeka by lottery.
Ariana Grande said “I hate America” but is being welcomed for a Wichita concert. One of the Dixie Chicks said, “We do not want this war … and we’re ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas,” and they were never heard of again. How fair is that?
The reports of Peyton Manning’s demise are greatly exaggerated.
