Opinion Line (Nov. 5)

During the 1950s, the 236-mile Kansas Turnpike was built in less than two years. It now takes more than a year to build a couple of on/off ramps in Wichita. Have we taken a step backward in construction technology?

When did distortions and lies, hate-mongers flooding our airwaves, greed, worshipping money, and selling our souls to the highest donor start representing “the American way”? Or has it always been this way? Does passively accepting this risk a “Christian nation” downgrade?

Sen. Pat Roberts’ reckless political ad implying endorsement by coach Bill Snyder compromised the university’s reputation. Roberts failed to pull the ad at the request of the university and coach. A friend would not do this.

We know Pat Roberts looks like your grandpa and Greg Orman the guy who stole your first wife, but that’s nothing to base a vote on.

The real Greg Orman sank to a new low when he disrespected our Kansas and American hero, Bob Dole. Orman isn’t fit to shine Dole’s shoes.

More than 21,000 people tried to register to vote and cannot prove their citizenship. Isn’t that evidence of voter fraud on a very large scale?

Voter ID laws are not a solution in search of a problem. The GOP views the problem as the fact that the poor, minorities and ignorant have the right to vote. Its solution is to make it as difficult as possible for them to do so.

Now that Hillary Clinton has proclaimed herself as anti-business, whom will you vote for as your alternate as a Democratic presidential candidate in 2016?

Sarah Palin would have been a far better president than Barack Obama? A question: Do you speak for everyone on your planet or just for yourself?

Palin a better president than Obama? The brew the tea party has been feeding you obviously has hallucinogenic properties.

I was just wondering if a Royals or Chiefs or K-State fan has to take an oath to whine relentlessly and blame officiating for every loss.

The Royals didn’t lose the World Series. They just didn’t win. Think about the inspiration they were to the country and to their city, and how much money their organization made just from getting there. There are no real losers in the World Series.

The Shockers made it to the Final Four in 2013 and the Royals made it to the World Series in 2014. What’s missing? Come on, Chiefs.
