Opinion Line Extra (Sept. 18)
On Monday I was able to ride my bike to work using the new First and Second street bike lanes. What a joy. Traffic was able to whiz right by me with no issue for any of us. Thanks, city of Wichita.
Those stupid bike lanes on First and Second streets are hazardous. Great that they spent money on that nonsense for the two bike riders who use them. Never mind the 10,000 automobiles that use those streets.
When you are in a hurry and you feel like that two-minute wait behind a school bus is going to be too long, think about it: What if you had to fill out accident reports, insurance forms, spend time in court, be sued? When the lights are flashing and the sign is out, stop.
After the Kentucky fiasco, every candidate for office should be required to answer this question: Will you follow the laws of this country and not give your personal beliefs priority over the law? If officeholders cannot carry out the duties of their office in accordance with the law, they should resign.
Why lock up a county clerk for not issuing marriage licenses when we have mayors, attorney generals and governors refusing to follow federal law by allowing sanctuary cities? Also, a president who picks and chooses which laws he follows.
Gen. David Petraeus was convicted of a much smaller security breach than the one involving the unrepentant and comical Hillary Clinton. Where is the equality there? The Obama Justice Department is so relative. It picks and chooses whom and what the prosecute. Frightening.
First the government social engineers destroy the family structure with a “New” Deal. Then the populist leader steps in to rescue the resulting single mother with government-mandated wages. The thought process for the “living wage” and other socialist programs is reinforced at the government schools.
During World War II, folks used to say if you wanted a war, vote Democrat and if you wanted a depression, vote Republican. Now you can just vote Republican and get both.
I am very irked at the whole Mount McKinley/Denali debacle. But it’s important that we see this for what is truly is: yet another deliberate distraction perpetrated by the Obama administration to take our focus off of his true nefarious activities.
GMC should change the name of its SUV from Denali to McKinley.
It is too bad the people who think President Obama is lying to us about climate change cannot get their heads out of the Fox News channel long enough to look outside, watch the weather and science channels, and read and think for themselves.
Other than the families of the players, does anyone really care about “Friday Football Fever”? I’d rather have a fever.
