Opinion Line (Sept. 16)
Voting for an American president is a little like playing Russian roulette. The candidate may still have several live bullets left in his resume.
Donald Trump, with his ridiculous hairdo, is criticizing how someone else looks?
Hillary Clinton is possibly the most qualified person to ever run for president and will inspire the world for generations to come, so all of her detractors need to pipe down, eat their peas and deal with it.
If you voted for Obama during either of the past two elections, please excuse yourself from voting. Obviously, you have not a clue what to look for in a person who is for this country, not against it and all it stands for.
Iran having nuclear capability is much less of a threat to the U.S. than what is coming across our southern border.
Someone tell me the difference between the refugees coming over the southern border escaping murderous drug lords and the refugees from Syria escaping the murderous terrorist lords of ISIS. Why do we accept one with open arms and the other call “illegal immigrants”?
There needs to be merit pay for Gov. Sam Brownback based on new businesses added (jobs), infrastructure maintained, health care to all citizens, adequate public school funding, arts support and enhancements for a safe, supportive and functioning state. Brownback will have to return all of his salary.
Before we shift to the governor’s idea of merit pay for teachers, we ought to try it out on our Legislature and administration. That would surely improve the state’s financial picture.
Let’s punish teachers with less pay because students were texting all night and did poorly on a test. Yep, good plan, legislators and governor.
The Royals should return Johnny Cueto to Cincinnati for a refund.
The logic of omitting the final (Oxford) comma in a series remains unanswered. Use the final comma for clarity. Less sophisticated writers will omit it.
Another punctuation controversy is the overuse of exclamation points!!!! It’s like shouting in a reasoned discussion, just raising the noise level without contributing any information.
Kudos to The Eagle for the Sunday human interest story about young Shawn Palmer and his gift of life to his friend. It underlines the Scripture, “Only a fool believes there is no God.” I look forward to seeing the car being restored in his honor at local shows.
