The millions of dollars spent by special interest groups and PACs in the elections show we have the best politicians money can buy.

We have been subjected to a bombardment of finger-pointing and innuendo, edited and false “information,” demeaning and altered pictures – all in the name of truth.

Once upon a time we achieved great things together. Can you imagine trying to build the Big Ditch today? Those days are over.

After seeing the city of Wichita spend millions on a new airport – plus excess money to rename it and on consultants for downtown, etc. – I am hesitant to vote for a sales tax increase. I fear it would just be more money to spend on questionable projects.

The sales tax issue applies to Wichita only, yet I get expensive mailers in opposition from an outfit in Topeka with the alias “Americans for Prosperity.” Whose prosperity? I smell a rat.

If the city cannot handle $47,000 worth of mailers, how does it expect the public to trust it with $400 million of taxpayers’ money?

Andover residents, take note: I will do all my shopping in Wichita if the Andover tax increase passes and the Wichita tax increase fails.

There are no perfect candidates for any position. The best choices we have are Sam Brownback, Pat Roberts, Kris Kobach and “no” on the sales tax.

The Republican campaign promise: “Government doesn’t work. Vote for me and let me prove it to you.”

I wouldn’t vote for Brownback if he gave me half of his campaign funds. Besides, Jeff “Hokey Pokey” Colyer would make me give them back anyway.

I figured it out: Brownback wants to tax less and spend less. Therefore, he’s breaking some people’s rice bowl.

I checked the ballot for Pat Roberts, but I did not vote for him. I voted for his Senate seat. GOP control of the Senate can do more for Kansas and the country than Roberts could do in another 40 years.

All that Roberts campaign money coming from out of state? Anyone else smell something?

It will be disappointing, after all the calls for a change in Washington, if the independent running for the Senate is defeated by possibly the most entrenched, partisan politician on the Hill. Greg Orman seems to be smart, passionate and hardworking. And Republicans should love his business success.

Roberts has made Kansas a major tourist stop for many wealthy friends who wouldn’t want to live here either. We should thank him by making him a tourist to Kansas also.

If you’re one of the people claiming to be a Republican, but you can’t vote for Roberts and are going to vote for Orman, you are not a Republican. You are a turncoat.

I have grave doubts about the impartiality of Kris Kobach’s Tabitha Lehman. Allowing media to be present at the tabulation of Sedgwick County votes would ensure the accuracy of the count.

Election fraud doesn’t happen at the voting booth; it happens in the backroom.
