Thursday’s crash of a King Air B200 at a FlightSafety International building at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport has left an aftermath of grief and questions – and a community mindful of the loss and shock being felt by loved ones and the healing ahead for the injured. The tragedy brought home again to the Air Capital the risks inherent to aviation, even when a highly reliable aircraft is flown on a beautiful morning by a skilled, experienced pilot. Residents can be grateful for the swiftness, courage and coordination of fire crews and other first responders to a crash site terrifying for its intense smoke and heat. – Rhonda Holman
