Opinion Line Extra (Nov. 3)

Why isn’t the use of robocalls illegal? Oh, that’s right – politicians love these calls.

I am looking forward to Wednesday, when I may again enjoy turning on my TV and phone and not be bomb-blasted with political insults. Then I will only have to be assaulted with telemarketers – even though I’m on the no-call list.

Would it be possible for me to add political phone calls to the national no-call list?

Thanks to the politicians for skyrocketing my recycle reward points for the month.

I have always been a Democrat, but willing to vote for a sensible Republican. Those days are gone forever. Now, the worst insult you could hurl at me would be to call me a “Republican.”

The RINOS are showing their true colors. I will never vote for one again.

Listen carefully to politicians for the phrases “I don’t intend to” or “I intend to.” What that really means is that if elected, they can easily be disabused since they only “intended.” Listen for the phrase “I will do this.” “Intend” is a sucker word.

My father said many times that “the first liar doesn’t have a chance.” I now know he was talking about politicians and TV’s talking heads.

What a laugh – Republicans complaining about our “liberal” newspaper’s endorsements. How soon they forget the many elections where the endorsements were primarily Republicans and incumbents. In Kansas, a “liberal” is anyone left of Attila the Hun.

I just completed early voting in Andover. Why must all the polling places be in a church? Are the pseudo-Christians trying to influence your vote? The answer is obvious.

The question of the day is: Which is more scary? The Halloween spooky movies, or the endless political ads?

If the 1-cent sales tax passes I’ll have to do without essentials, like lottery tickets and casino visits.

It’s been nearly 10 years since Hurricane Katrina. How many people, especially in New Orleans, are still trying to live off of the government – that is, the taxpayers?

The Obama Democrats let Ebola spread to the United States.

Why wouldn’t an illegal immigrant vote? They work, go to school, get health care and receive charity at every turn. They are seldom deported when caught, so why not register and vote for the political party making all of that possible?

Just wondering which candidates will get the blame for the Royals losing the World Series.

About all these sports figures pointing toward the sky when things go their way: Thanking any god watching over us for winning a car race or some game seems arrogant. And what about the losers of such contests? I guess they begged the wrong “god.”
